We’ll keep this as short as we can, but new legislation is going into effect soon that will affect all of us. We’re working hard to minimize the impact on everyone, but there are a few changes that we think are worth mentioning to avoid confusion and give everyone a heads up on just what’s going on.
First things first, Buy Pods Now is not going gently into that good night. We’re here for the long haul, and we want our loyal customers to know that we’re doing everything we can to ensure that any impact or delays are temporary. We’re looking forward to serving you and your needs now and in the future.
What’s Up with the PACT Act?
The “Prevent All Cigarette Trafficking” (or PACT) Act was passed in 2009 and originally regulated the mailing of cigarettes and smokeless tobacco products to consumers through the US Postal Service. Thanks to recent legislation, all vaping products are now considered “combustible cigarettes” and will fall under the regulations of the PACT Act.
This means that there are a ton of new requirements for registration, reporting, delivery and recordkeeping to comply with state and federal regulations. As of April 1, the sale of all vape and vape-related products must comply with the new regulations. Further, the USPS, UPS and FedEx will no longer ship any vape or vape-related products because of these new restrictions.
The “Be Happy” Part
We’re obviously not exactly thrilled about all this, but we started working on this issue way back in January and we’re happy to report we’ve established a relationship with a specialized carrier service so that you can continue to rely on Buy Pods Now for all your vape needs. We’ve invested heavily in compliance with all these new regulations, and we’re fighting our way through the red tape to keep everything running.
Because there are so many new rules and they vary from state to state, there may be a temporary disruption of service to certain customers. What’s Changing at Buy Pods Now?
For the most part, disruptions will be temporary and very little will change in regards to how your orders are handled. Here’s what you can expect to see in the coming weeks:
SHIPPING
We’re no longer able to ship through traditional carriers like the USPS, UPS and FedEx. We have established a relationship with a specialized carrier service that will deliver to our customers. At the moment, this carrier is only able to service about 85% of country, but we anticipate coverage to expand to 100% in the near future. Here’s what this means for you:
- It will be required that an adult signature is collected to accept delivery.
- We will announce new shipping rates when we make this transition.
TAXES
We will be collecting all applicable state and excise taxes as required by law. These taxes will be calculated based off of the customers shipping location. What this means for you:
- Your tax rate may change, and those changes will vary by state.
AGE VERIFICATION
Very little will change in regard to Age Verification. Buy Pods Now uses AgeChecker.net to verify all customer age prior to check out, so there won’t be any real changes in your shopping experience. The big difference is that an age-verified signature is now required during delivery. What this means for you:
- An adult over the age of 21 is required to receive the shipment & provide ID.
